Since 2009 the World Trade Organization launched the Essay award for young economists to aim to build high quality of economic research on the WTO and WTO relevant topics and to reinforce the relationship among the WTO and the academic community. This program provided to encourage young Ph.D. applicants to conduct economic analysis and research to be involved with trends and trade deeply.
For 2020 WTO invited applicants to present their idea related to trade policy and international trade co-operation no longer than 15000 and win the 5000 CHF with a fully-funded trip to the international conference of European Trade Study Group in Ghent, Belgium.
Prizes:
· Each winner will receive 5000 CHF and will be divided equally for co-authored if joined.
· The winning essay will be announced officially at the annual meeting of the international specialized conference of the European Trade Study Group.
· The winners will receive funds to participate in the meeting. The winner essays will be published in the WTO working paper series
Eligibilities:
· The essay’s topics must be relevant to trade policy and international trade cooperation.
· Applicants must have a PhD degree in related areas.
· If applicant’s age is over 30 years, the PhD defense must not pass more than two years.
· The essays must not be more than 15000 words.
Required documents:
· Essay about no more than 15000 words.
· Update Curriculum Vitae of the applicants, including current affiliation, academic institution awarding the PhD, the year of gotten the Ph.D. degree, and birth date.

Selection process:
The submitted essays will be evaluated by professional academic selection committee.
