2023 EPFL Excellence Fellowship for Foreign Master Students in Switzerland

Brief Description:

International students can now apply for Swiss Federal University of Technology, Lausanne-EPFL Excellence Fellowships. Limited master’s level fellowships are available from EPFL to students who have achieved academic excellence. This fellowship is a very selective programme that is merit-based and takes into account the academic records of the applicants.

Some of these fellowships will be funded directly by EPFL, while others will be made available through partnerships with philanthropies or for-profit organisations.

This opportunity is open to anyone with a bachelor’s degree who wants to study for a master’s at EPFL. No applicants for the second master’s degree programme at EPFL are permitted to receive an excellence fellowship.

Successful applicants will benefit from the EPFL Excellence Fellowship as follows:

·        Each semester, Fellows will receive CHF 10,000.

Note: Fellowship recipients will be responsible for covering all of their expenses (including rent)

 

Eligibility:

Students who meet the following requirements can apply to South Asian University:

·        Have finished 12 years of school and Hold a bachelor’s degree. (totally 15 years of education at least)

·        Applicants who are in their last year of undergraduate-level can also apply.

Requirement:

To apply for the EPFL Excellence Fellowship, applicants should meet the following eligibility criteria:

·        Applicants from any nationality are eligible to apply.

·        Students will be chosen based on their academic performance.

·        Applicant’s EPFL degree should not be a second master’s degree.

·        External candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an international university.

·        Internal candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from EPFL.

·        Candidates should declare all the scholarships they receive during their master’s degree.

Required documents:

Applicants should include the following documents in the application:

·        Curriculum Vitae (CV)

·        One letter of motivation

·        Two recommendation letters from professors familiar with the students’ work and accomplishments were submitted directly to e-fellowship@epfl.ch.

·        A record of all grades received at EPFL.

Required Documents for Master’s Program Students at EPFL:

·        Applicants applying for a master’s degree at EPFL should submit the following documents in English, German, French, or Italian. Documents in other languages should have a legalized translation in either language:

·        Curriculum vitae (CV)

·        University degree(s) copy, if already available.

·        Transcripts from each university attended.

·        A statement of purpose. (max. 1000 words)

·        The contact details of 3 academic referees, whom each should produce a recommendation letter (except for EPFL bachelor’s degree holders and those who hold a bachelor’s degree from ETH Zürich or a Swiss university or FHS/HES and are applying for a master’s program in the same field of study).

·        ID Card or Passport

·        Work Portfolio (for the field of Architecture only)

·        Additional documents, like TOEFL or GRE scores, research publications, or other portfolios of previous work (Not mandatory)

·        Note: EPFL will only consider documents uploaded in the online application form, no documents sent by postal mail.

 

 

How to Apply?

Candidates outside Switzerland holding a bachelor’s degree from a university abroad should apply by 15 April or 15 December 2023 using the same online form as their master’s program application. Please check the box to tick indicating the candidate’s profile consideration for an excellence fellowship. No additional documents are required but those required for admission to the master’s program.

Application Procedure for Internal candidates (Inside Switzerland):

EPFL bachelor’s degree holders should remember that the relevant sections may contact them to see if they want to apply for an excellence fellowship. Students can apply to their section by 31 January or 30 April 2023.
