Shanghai Government Scholarships for All Degrees to study in China

Outstanding international students who are interested to pursue their education in China, are welcomed to apply for Shanghai Government Scholarship. This scholarship was established in 2006 to enhance the development of international student education in Shanghai.

The scholarship is offered for all degrees. Undergraduate program applicants who do not know Chinese language can apply to attend in a one year Chinese language program

Scholarship value: 

There are two types of scholarships offered by Shanghai Government.

Type A

Tuition fee exemption On Campus Accommodation Medical insurance Monthly allowance

Type B:

Tuition fee exemption Medical insurance

 

Eligibility:

 

Applicants who want to apply for Shanghai Government Scholarship should adhere the following criteria:

Ø  Be a citizen of a country other than China

Ø  Be healthy

Ø  Not have availed the Chinese Government Scholarship or any other scholarship offered by organizations are ineligible to apply

Ø  Pre college program (Chinese language studies):

·         Be under the age of 23

·         Have high school diploma

Ø  Undergraduate program:

·         Be under the age of 25

·         Obtained a high school diploma

Ø  Master’s degree program:

·         Be under the age of 35

·         Obtained a bachelor’s degree

Ø  PhD program:

·         Be under the age of 40

·         Obtained a master degree

 Required documents: (in English/Chinese or with notarized translation)

Ø  Application form

Ø  Highest diploma

Ø  Academic transcripts (notarized photocopy )

Ø  Study or research plan in Chinese/English (at least 800 words)

Valid HSK certificate: students not having valid HSK can apply to one year Chinese language studies. Master degree

applicants should have 210 HSK level 5 and PhD applicants should have 180 of HSK level 5 for Chinese taught program or

TOEFL 80 or above, IELTS 6 or above or other English language certificate for English taught program

Ø  Two recommendation letters by professor or associate professor

Ø  Health certificate and blood test (original documents are required while entering in China

Ø  Certificates of award in high school (not mandatory )

Ø  Valid Passport

Ø  Guardian’s letter of guarantee for Applicants under the age of 18

Ø  Application fee paid online.

Ø  Undergraduate thesis abstract for master applicants (not mandatory)

 Application instructions:

Eligible applicants can apply to this Scholarship following the steps below:

Apply online to the university and pay the application fee of 800 RMB (about 118 USD)

Apply online for Scholarship (code of the ECNU is 10269), download the application form and print it.

Mail two sets of the documents (1 original +1 photocopies) to the international student office, East China Normal University.
