·        Full tuition fee funding

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the stated criteria:

·        Applicants should make sure that they are able to show outstanding academic performance before applying for this scholarship scheme.

·        Applications are open to highly qualified candidates worldwide. There are no restrictions on nationality.

·        Applicants must be among the highest-achieving students in their undergraduate group, and in receipt of, or due to receive a first class UK degree or its equivalent.

·        Candidates with a single Master’s qualification must have achieved a distinction or, be able to provide evidence of high performance that will result in distinction. They must also hold a first class UK undergraduate degree or equivalent.

·        Candidates with multiple standalone Master’s qualifications must have achieved a distinction in the one most relevant to their PhD study.

·        Candidates with degrees from foreign institutions are strongly urged to make sure their scores/grades match with relevant eligibility criteria or their equivalent.

·        Before applying,candidates must have made contact with a supervisor in an academic department at Imperial College London who has agreed on supervising their research project. Please note that supervisors are limited to supervise one student at any time.

·        What you need to provide:

·        Personal statement: where you must ensure that it consists of approx. 1000 words (maximum 2 pages_ a must) outlining your academic and research achievements to date, explaining in brief your planned research project.

·        You may submit updated versions of this statement if required following application submission.

·        To be considered for the President’s PhD Scholarship scheme, applicants must select this option in the funding section of the additional questions tab within the online application form.

·        You must also meet any additional application requirements indicated by your department of choice

Selection process and criteria

·        This scholarship opportunity is extremely competitive, with higher than usual eligibility requirements, so your academic merit and potential matter the most.

·        Review of the application consists of a two-stage process.

·        First, the related departments review the applications and shortlist the very best candidates. Second, the department sends the list to the University’s Selection Panel to make the final selection.

·        The College’s Selection Panel evaluates applications against the following criteria:

·        Academic excellence

·        Research potential

·        Suitability of candidate

·        Successful candidates will receive written confirmation of their scholarship. Any offer of a PhD place will be contingent on final interview by the Department and (if appropriate) on the candidate receiving the predicted qualifications.
