Imperial College London President’s PhD Scholarship for the academic year of
2021/2022. This scholarship offers an outstanding opportunity for potential PhD
students with string desire to study and undertake research at a world-class
research institution.
The President’s PhD Scholarships
provides up to 50 research students with great potential the
opportunity to work within their chosen research area with the support of an
excellent supervisor. So, if you are a high-performing undergraduate or
master’s student, you could secure this scholarship and shine in your
postgraduate studies.

Eligibility:
To be eligible for this
scholarship, applicants must meet the stated criteria:

Applicants should make
sure that they are able to show outstanding academic performance before
applying for this scholarship scheme.
·
Applications are open to
highly qualified candidates worldwide. There are no restrictions on
nationality.
·
Applicants must be among
the highest-achieving students in their undergraduate group, and in receipt of,
or due to receive a first class UK degree or its equivalent.
·
Candidates with a single
Master’s qualification must have achieved a distinction or, be able to provide
evidence of high performance that will result in distinction. They must also
hold a first class UK undergraduate degree or equivalent.
·
Candidates with multiple
standalone Master’s qualifications must have achieved a distinction in the one
most relevant to their PhD study.
·
Candidates with degrees
from foreign institutions are strongly urged to make sure their scores/grades
match with relevant eligibility criteria or their equivalent.
·
Before applying,candidates
must have made contact with a supervisor in an academic department at Imperial
College London who has agreed on supervising their research project. Please
note that supervisors are limited to supervise one student at any time.

What you need to provide:

Personal statement: where
you must ensure that it consists of approx. 1000 words (maximum 2 pages_ a
must) outlining your academic and research achievements to date, explaining in
brief your planned research project.

You may submit updated
versions of this statement if required following application submission.

To be considered for the
President’s PhD Scholarship scheme, applicants must select this option in
the funding section of the additional questions tab within the online
application form.

You must also meet any
additional application requirements indicated by your department of choice
Selection process and criteria
·
This scholarship
opportunity is extremely competitive, with higher than usual eligibility
requirements, so your academic merit and potential matter the most.
·
Review of the application
consists of a two-stage process.
·
First, the related
departments review the applications and shortlist the very best candidates.
Second, the department sends the list to the University’s Selection Panel to
make the final selection.
·
The College’s Selection
Panel evaluates applications against the following criteria:

Academic excellence
·
Research potential
·
Suitability of candidate
·
Successful candidates will
receive written confirmation of their scholarship. Any offer of a PhD place
will be contingent on final interview by the Department and (if appropriate) on
the candidate receiving the predicted qualifications.
