Job Description:
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Should provide a workable safety program for the project from the start of the construction to the closeout phase.
The safety officer should be familiar with a typical Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with the Department of State requirements including OSHA.
Must be familiar with implementation of all steps of activity hazard analysis (AHA) for construction activities and equipment’s including earthworks and excavations, confined space, material handling, tools – hand and power, scaffolds, stairways and ladders, electrical, personal protective equipment, fall protection, welding and cutting, fire prevention, concrete & masonry, and cranes.
Should design and install necessary safety signs, signals and barricades for the jobsite.
Should regularly inspect and evaluate the work site to identify the potential accident hazards, and protect personnel and property at the jobsite.
OSHA daily safety inspection of site by SSHO from the start of the project up to the end.
Shall be responsible for documenting, recording and reporting all accident exposures and experienced incidents at work site to the related stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
Education: Certificate of high school and OSHA construction safety training is required. Holder of higher degrees is strongly preferred.
Experience : Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in construction safety of USACE projects and Department of State in Afghanistan as a safety officer is required.
Communication Skills: Must have the ability to communicate effectively through oral and written English.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The applicant must possess strong operational, and computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Internet, and email. The candidate should own the ability to work effectively with superiors, subordinates, colleagues and partners, as well as should possess maturity, stability, objectivity, adaptability and perfect professional judgment.
