So Facebook has announced call for proposals for pilot and early stage research that extends computer vision technologies in developing countries .
What kind of project is considered?:
Facebook is seeking the projects:
* Addressing the technical challenges impeding computer vision in these contexts including data and hardware limitations
* Providing better integration of new information sources such as high resolution satellite imagery
Project impact:
The projects should have the social impact in the following areas:
* Agriculture extension Health services: the project improve diagnosis, dietary water or sanitation assessment
* Education quality: providing tools for the enhancement of access to information without requiring high levels of literacy or language skills
* Infrastructure and sustainable industry: improving factory machinery or training to increase safety, jobs or output.
* Transportation innovations for environmental and human benefit Disaster relief and climate action: visual information for first-responders to fires, floods or other natural disasters.
Technologies to manage or mitigate environmental change.
Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants from around the world who applies from an academic or research institution who is eligible to receive funding should meet the following requirements:
* The organization must be a non-profit organization or non-governmental organization legally registered locally.
* You proposal should be your own work and should not be protected by copyright

* Project summary up to two pages: area of focus, conceptual and methodological distinction between the pilot study and any future follow on studies, techniques, research applicability. Timeline, and expected outcome
* 1 page budget description
* CV of key participants
