Fields study:

·        Students that are accepted into the SRP will be able to enroll in a choice of academic programs in Canada, depending on their academic grades, required course prerequisites, and language test scores.

·        Students in the SRP program are eligible for entrance to the following academic programs: Academic bridging programmers include English language classes, undergraduate bachelor’s degree programs, college diploma programs, and post-graduate certificate programs (all of which require a prior college or bachelor’s degree).

·        In their first year of study in Canada, SRP students are not permitted to enroll in a Master’s program

 

Benefits of Scholarship:

·        The SRP is not a traditional scholarship; it is a one-year sponsorship that involves resettlement in Canada as well as admission to a Canadian post-secondary educational institution.

·        After 3-4 years as a Permanent Resident, SRP students are eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship.

·        The SRP does not involve the resettlement of any family members, therefore successful candidates are resettled as a single person.

·        For the first year in Canada, the SRP pays a student’s academic and living expenses. SRP students are expected to be financially self-sufficient after one year.

·        SRP students are permitted to work during their summer vacations and/or during the academic year, and they are eligible to apply for Canadian government student loans, scholarships, and/or bursaries/grants to help fund the remainder of their education.

 

 

Eligibility:

·        Be a forcefully displaced person residing in Pakistan, including “Proof of Registration” POR holders¸ temporary visa holders and other populations of concern registered with UNHCR

·        Applicants of all nationalities are encouraged to apply

·        Must be eligible and suitable for resettlement under Canada’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program

·        Age: 18 to 25 by January 1st, 2022 (birthdate must be between January 1st, 1997 and January 1st, 2004);

·        You must be single (i.e., not married) and childless.

·        Be a high school graduate (Also known as secondary school graduate in Canada) with a physical copy of the true and original proof of high school completion in their hands

·        Be able to meet language requirements for Canadian universities and colleges in English or French

·        Having trouble getting into or finishing post-secondary education

·        Individuals who are self-sufficient, mature, and capable of integrating into Canadian society.

Selection Process:

·        WUSC’s goal for the SRP is to choose an equal number of female and male students.

·        SRP students are chosen based on their refugee claim, academic capabilities, and personal appropriateness for integration into Canadian society.

·        The preliminary selection decision is the responsibility of WUSC.

·        WUSC does a last round of verifications with local organizations, including UNHCR and post-secondary education partners, after the interview to confirm refugee status and academic histories.

·        Students complete the immigration application form for resettlement to Canada under Canada’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program after being selected by WUSC.

·        SRP applicants are submitted to Canadian immigration officials through WUSC.

·        WUSC does not have the authority to influence Canadian government officials’ final decisions.

·        Canadians will make the final decision.

·        Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
