Brief Description:
This year, the UK Department of
Education, in partnership with the British Council, announced two new
scholarship initiatives for Afghan students affected by the conflict in their
country. The scholarships are designed to help Afghan students of all levels
pay their education in the UK for up to four years.

The In-Year Scholarship is
intended for current Afghan students in UK universities.
·
The Full Degree
Scholarship is for those eligible Afghan students in the UK who will start
their degree on Sep/Oct 2022.
Scholars will receive a quarterly
stipend payment from the Warm Welcome Full Degree Scholarship program
to cover housing and living expenses. Tuition and other course fees will be
waived for scholars for the duration of their studies at participating higher
education institutions.

These scholarships cover the

£12,667 funding undergraduate level.
£16,068 funding for postgraduate (master).
£16,068 funding stipend for Ph.D. level, London rate
Eligibility:
Eligibility for residency
status:
·
Eligible scholars are
those who qualify for a place at a UK university and fall into one of the
following categories:
·
Afghanistan Relocations
and Assistance Policy (ARAP) route.
·
Afghanistan Citizens
Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) route to resettlement.
·
Those with Afghan links
which are already enrolled at a UK university are experiencing financial
hardship due to the situation in Afghanistan.
·
British Afghan Nationals
(ABNs) are those who were evacuated during Operation Pitting and entered
bridging accommodation or who presented as homeless to a council but who have
British citizenship or another status that allows them to remain and reside in
the UK without the need for leave to remain.

To be eligible for a Warm
Welcome In-Year Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
·
currently enrolled in a
full-time undergraduate, taught master’s or Ph.D. program at a UK higher
education provider.
Full Degree
Scholarships
It will help if you meet the
following criteria to be considered for a Warm Welcome Full Degree Scholarship:
planning to apply for, or have
applied for, a full-time undergraduate, taught master’s, or Ph.D. program at a
UK higher education provider starting in September/October 2022.
Students
who have completed their current program this academic year and intend to
continue their studies by applying to a higher level of study at a UK higher
education provider beginning September/October 2022 may be eligible to apply
for the Warm Welcome Full Degree Scholarship route. In such cases, you must
choose whether to apply for the In-Year or Full Degree Scholarship course
because you cannot apply for both.
Be
in the UK at the time of applying to higher education institutions.
Please note the those with current asylum status can not apply to this
scholarship.
Rules and Conditions of scholarship

You must not accept any
other publicly funded award (for example, a student loan or another
scholarship).
·
Applicants can work part-time.
·
You can apply for additional government benefits or assistance.
If applicable.
·
Grant
for Adult Dependents.
·
Childcare Grant and
Parents’ Learning Allowance (CCG).
·
Disabled Students
Allowance (DSA).
·
You must follow the
conduct and attendance standards that your institution expects of you.
·
You must not engage in any
political or public-spirited activities that may have a negative impact on the
British Government.

In order to apply for the
In-Year scholarship scheme students must their applications to the British
Council directly through their online
application form.
Full Degree Scholarship: There are two-stage application
procedures for Afghan students to apply:
Interested scholars will first
apply to study at one of the participating higher education institutions,
indicating that they intend to apply for a Warm Welcome Scholarship and be
accepted and sponsored by them.
Using the British Council
application form, sponsored applicants apply for scholarship funding.
