Brief Description:
The application for the United
Nations internship is now open. The Regional Commissions New York Office
(RCNYO) internship in economic affairs is for two months with an opportunity
for renewable up to a maximum of six months, depending upon the needs of the
department.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time. In the meantime, interns
will work five days per week (35 hours) under the observation of a staff member
in the department or/and office in which they will work.

Duties and Responsibilities
Intern’s daily responsibilities
may include, but are not limited to:
·
Attend and write minutes
of intergovernmental and United Nations inter-agency meetings; (e.g., meetings
of the General Assembly Committees and of the Economic and Social Council);
·
Draft official papers
(e.g., background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to
publications, etc.) and weekly reports to be accessible to the Regional
Commissions;
·
Carry out analysis and
research of regional trends and regional aspects of sustainable development;
·
Offer logistical support
during conferences/meetings of the Regional Commissions;
·
Any other duties as tasked
by the supervisor.

Qualifications
Education
To be eligible for an internship with the United Nations
Internship Programme, Applicants must meet the following conditions

Be enrolled in a graduate
school program (second university degree or its equivalent, or higher);
·
Be enrolled in the final
A.Y. of a first university degree program (min.Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
or
·
Have graduated with a
university degree (as outlined above) and, if designated, must begin the
internship within one year of graduation;
·
Have computer literacy in
standard software applications.
Work Experience
·
Applicants to the United
Nations Internship Programme do not need to possess professional work
experience. Although a field of study that is closely linked to the type of
internship that you are applying for is mandatory.
Language competencies
·
English and French are the
working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in oral and
written English is imperative for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of an
additional official UN language is an advantage.
