Brief Description:
The Immigration Act of 1995
established the Diversity Visa (DV) program in 1990. For countries with
historically low rates of immigration to the United States, 55,000 immigrant
visas are available.
These immigrant visas are distributed across six continents:
The DV is not available to
citizens of the following countries.
Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China
(including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti,
Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea,
Venezuela, and Vietnam.
The DV lottery registration is
open for a limited time each year. The 2023 DV Lottery will begin on October 6,
2021, and will end on November 9, 2021.
Eligibility:
Be natives of countries where
migration to the United States has historically been low.
Born in one of the eligible
countries (or has a spouse who was born in one of the eligible countries)
Having completed high school (12
years) or an equivalent education, or having at least two years of experience
in a job that requires at least two years of training or experience to perform.

The requirement of the photo:

Dimension: 1200x 1200
pixels or 600×600 pixels
·
The existing photo scan
should be 51×51 mm in size and 300 pixels per inch resolution
·
Taken in full-face view
directly facing the camera
·
Taken in front of plain
white or off-white background
·
Your both eyes must be
open
·
Your clothes must be
normal
·
No hat, headphones,
wireless hands-free devices, eyeglasses.
·
Your image must be in JPEG
file format, less than 240 kb, height must equal width (600*600 pixels)
·
While taking a photo of
your baby or toddler no other person should be in the photo and should be
looking directly at the camera with his/her eyes open
Passport requirement:
·
For DV 2021, 2022,
2023 the applicants need to have a valid traveling passport. In family
registration, only the main applicant (father/mother) needs to have a passport.
Note: do not submit an entry to the DV program unless you meet the
above requirements.

Remember to include your
family name, first name according to your passport (middle name if it is
included in your passport). List your name in the following order: last/family
name, first name, middle name, and if you have only one name, enter it in the
last/family name field.

We encourage you to apply
by yourself and if other facilitators offer help, you should be present at the
time of entry to provide correct answers to the questions and retain your
unique confirmation number and print out your confirmation screen. It is
extremely important to keep the printout of your confirmation page and
confirmation number.

access to the email account listed in your E-DV entry.

Complete your Electronic
Entry for the DV-2023 Program via the dvprogram.state.gov before
November 9, 2021.
