British Council Scholarships for Women in UK

Brief Description:

Are you a woman with a degree or background in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and passionate about your study? If yes, you could secure a scholarship to study at one of the 19 prominent UK universities in a STEM field. British Council, in partnership with 19 UK universities, offers master’s scholarship programs in the academic year 2021-22 to benefit women from Americas, South and South East Asia to undertake a degree in STEM. Women who demonstrate financial need and have the ambition to inspire future generations to study STEM are eligible for this scholarship.

Eligibility:

 

Applicants meeting the following requirements are qualified.

·        are nationals and residents of the eligible countries in the Americas, South Asia, and East Asia (see full list below)

·        are able to enroll in a full-time course of study in the UK for the academic year 2021 – 2022

·        can present proof of financial difficulty to receive this scholarship

·        have a bachelor’s degree making them eligible for undertaking one of the pre-selected postgraduate courses at a UK university

·        can obtain the level of English necessary for master’s study at a UK university now or upon completion of a pre-sessional English course

·        demonstrate achievement in the field with work experience or a strong interest in their subject area

·        Are willing to engage as committed British Council scholarship alumni after graduation.

Evaluation

·        A coordinated selection panel between the Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and the British Council will choose the bursaries recipients.

 

How to Apply?

Applicants have to apply directly to participating universities as their application process becomes live on the British Council’s website as of early January 2021 onward. Currently, only the application to the University of Stirling is open. Information on application to other universities will be published via BC which you can stay tuned with and apply to the university as per the application instructions.

To apply for the STEM scholarship, you should visit each participating university’s website for updates on the application process and materials.
