Afghanistan is eligible for a 16500 visa from Australia

Brief Description:

Over a four-year period, the Australian government budget will pay 16,500 additional spots to welcome new Afghan migrants.

This project has a budget of $665.9 million dollars. This 16,500 visas are separate from the previously announced 15000 visas for Afghans through the Humanitarian and Family Stream Program. Over the following four years, Australia will bring a total of 31,500 people.

On top of the 13750 spots available under Australia’s humanitarian programme, 4000 Afghans will be welcomed each year.

Simultaneously, the government would spend an additional $136.7 million in 2022/23 on refitting and replacing customs vessels, as well as maintaining marine patrols, to deter people from undertaking the dangerous journey by boat.
