2021 WISE Prize for Education | $500,000 Prize

Submissions are now open for the 2021 WISE Prize for Education awarded by Qatar Foundation to honor an individual or a team for an extraordinary, world-class contribution to education (at any level). Moreover, this prize is the first recognition of its kind in education that elevates the status of education by attributing to it similar esteem to other areas for which international prizes are awarded –such as literature, peace, and economics.

Benefits:

The WISE Prize for Education winners receives the WISE Prize medal and US$500,000 and declared at the global biennial summit’s Opening Plenary Session. The winners receive this prize to help themselves grow their initiatives and further expand their projects.

 

Required documents

The achievements of the individual or team nominated should have had a substantial and enduring impact on education at any stage and should indicate an inspirational and visionary approach to education.

The nominee(s) should fulfill the following criteria: 

Commitment to Education: The nominee(s) has strong a lasting commitment to fighting education hurdles locally or internationally

Positive Systemic Innovation: the nominee(s) is a driving force for systemic change by creating creative solutions to local or international education problem(s).

Leadership: the vision of the nominee(s) should not only be innovative but contextually conducive to changing the status quo.

Long-lasting Impact: the contribution of the nominee(s) should lead to a positive and sustainable impact in the lives of the targeted beneficiaries.

Nominator:

The individual nominator must nominate a candidate, not an organization, the nominator could be the nominee’s colleague, part of their community, one of the nominee’s end beneficiaries, or bear no relationship with the nominee.

The nominator should know the nominee’s work very well.


MULTIPLE NOMINATIONS

·        Different individuals may submit several nominations for the same individual. 

·        Also, the same nominators may submit multiple nominations for different individuals or teams.

 

Eligibility:

Individuals meeting the following criteria can be nominator or nominee for the WISE prize for Education.

Nominee:

The 2021 WISE Prize for Education selection committee only accepts nominations. Self-nominations will not be considered. 

·        Potential WISE Prize for Education nominees can be academics, education experts, policymakers, organization leaders and can be from any educational sector i.e., early childhood education, K-12, higher education, vocational training, differently-abled development, informal education, remote learning, education technology, and lifelong learning.

·        Shortlisted nominee(s) must clearly set out how the WISE Prize for Education will maximize, grow, and scale their impact.

·        Nominees can be from any corner of the world provided that they meet the criteria.

 

How to Apply?

·        Nominators should submit their nominators online by creating an account on the Wise application system and filling out all the nominee’s required information.

·        Submit HERE.

Nominators may take these points into consideration:

·        All nominations must be submitted only in English.

·        The nominator should provide the required contact details; in case the WISE team would like to contact the nominator for more details.

·        Each nominator needs two supporters/references who well know the nominees; therefore, nominator should provide their contact information as the Wise Team will contact them.

·        No late submissions will be considered.

·        A confirmation email together with a PDF version of the nomination form will be sent to the nominator after the nomination has reached the system.
